Proposed Solutions. Creating awareness through the use of media outlets The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) should create more awareness through various means of publicity. Although there are various green technologies available, many individuals are still choosing known and traditional green technologies.  The team’s proposed solution is to increase awareness of green technologies through social media platforms and advertising as a start, followed by road shows that deepen the community’s knowledge through the showcase of such green technologies. Team members: 1) Raj 2) JX 3) YC Introduction: Singapore started the Green Mark Scheme in 2005, and through the scheme, the Singapore Government ultimately wanted to shift Singapore’s building and construction industry towards environment-friendly buildings with the aim of strengthening the country’s position as a global city dedicated to matching its development with sustainability. The target was to green 80 percent of the existing buildings by 2030. However, Wong (2019) stated that Singapore was half of its 80 percent target. Siva, Hoppe and Jain (2017) reported that throughout the value chain, sustainability was secondary. According to a research article, “Green Building; Analysing a Frontrunner’s Sectoral Innovation System”, (Siva. V, Hoppe. T, and Jain. M, 2017) states measures in place have been moderately effective in relation with the target 80% of buildings being green-mark certification by 2030. The government initiated the transition towards green buildings and through Building Construction Authority (BCA), launched various support guidelines and a masterplan was established. Stakeholders payback time as a major deciding factor when it came to technology. One such technology that has became more feasible is solar panels due to the subsidies the government provide in hopes of increasing transitions towards renewable energy sources.   Secondly, sustainability is not a priority. Reader Response Summary In the article “How can Southeast Asia’s clean energy transition be sped up” (Tim, 2019) addresses the issues faced by countries in the Southeast Asia region, possible solutions and the dire consequences of not taking the issue seriously. Southeast Asia is the only region that has not achieved low emissions level but instead is increasingly contributing to it globally. For example, Singapore can apply nuclear fusion or the implementation of hydrogen as a “greener “fuel. However, such technology comes with a cost. The demand for power will grow with the economic success in the region, and as such policymakers and businesses have to seize this opportunity to make a change through “building an energy infrastructure”, improving quality of life as economies advance.
